Why do I have to donate for streams higher than 56K?
1. This is the first year that we have offered the
300k streams; prior to that we only offered 150k. The
reason we decided to offer the 300k stream was to
provide a way for pastors and churches who cannot attend
to be able to use the 300k stream to show their
congregations. We wanted as many of our churches to be
able to view the conference as possible. Offering the
larger streams allowed that because they were better in
quality and would scale larger for more people to view.
2. Each conference it costs over $20,000 for the
streaming bill alone, not including the thousands of
dollars for the setup of equipment. The donations that
we received last year only covered $4,000 dollars of
this expense.
3. The $100.00 is mostly for church
congregations who need the extremely high quality rate
due to the large number of people viewing.
4. For other users: 75k at $20.00 is good quality, with
good motion and stereo sound. 150k at $40.00 is high
quality that can also be played full screen with
excellent motion and sound.
If you want or have to do it free, the 56k will stream
fluid with no buffers and good motion if you have a high
speed connection. The only thing that is degraded is the
video quality, which may be grainy, and the audio is
mono instead of stereo.
Though we realize that offering
conference viewing at high quality rates for FREE would
be the most requested option, the cost to us will not
allow it. Comments from our viewers in previous years
confirmed to us that most people who cannot attend
conference love to view the services online. As the
years have progressed, the numbers of viewers who access
our internet streams have grown tremendously, increasing
our cost drastically. We felt that if we had to choose
between not showing these streams due to cost
restraints, or showing them but for a nominal cost to
those who wanted the higher streams, we would rather
meet the needs and offer the solution instead of not
offering one at all.
In addition, $100.00 per church congregation is
extremely less than the cost of that entire congregation
going to conference physically. And for regular viewers,
our cost is still much less than what it would cost for
that person to attend conference as well.
