A Call to Prayer

A Call to Prayer
I appeal to every minister and church in the United Pentecostal Church International to have special prayer regarding the coronavirus pandemic. Let’s focus our prayers on the following points: (1) Divine protection and healing for all people and especially for our constituents. (2) Wisdom for leaders to take appropriate action for our safety and security without causing panic. (3) Protection for our nation and church from adverse economic and political effects. (4) Opportunities to share God’s peace, healing, and salvation.

Coronavirus Update
Due to the pandemic, there have been some restrictions on large meetings and travel. While we hope that most meetings this year can be held as scheduled, we will follow the recommendations or instructions of governmental and health officials. The appropriate district board or ministry committee will make any decision to postpone or cancel a meeting. Local churches may need to consider options for small group meetings, online services, and electronic contributions.

The National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) has provided information that may be helpful for churches. It has been made available to us through Reach Out America, a UPCI-endorsed relief agency and a VOAD member. UPCI ministers can download the PowerPoint presentation from upciministers.com

Local churches may wish to provide a statement to their congregations about the coronavirus. A sample statement is available to UPCI ministers at upciministers.com.

Newsletter for Apostolic Families
The UPCI’s Family Ministries Council recently launched a monthly email newsletter featuring insights, information, and encouragement for Apostolic families. Anyone can subscribe by visiting UPCIFamily.com and entering their name and email address under the heading “Get Our Newsletter” at the bottom of the page.

New Group Church Insurance Program
United Insurance Solutions, the insurance company owned by the UPCI, is excited to partner with BXS Insurance to offer a brand-new group Property and Casualty program for the US. It is available in all 50 states. There are benefits in belonging to a group that a church, campground, or college may not have with an individual policy. For more information, please contact us at upciprogram@bxsi.com or call toll-free, 800-358-7741.

Revision of the UPCI Manual
We are reaching the final stage of our multiyear revision of the UPCI Manual. The General Board recently approved two items for submission to the General Conference: (1) a policy for the formation of new districts and (2) a revision of the remaining portions of the General Constitution that have not yet been updated. The first would represent a significant change. The second does not involve significant changes of philosophy or procedure but updates the language, clarifies ambiguities, articulates current practices, and more fully describes modifications in operations that have been made over the years. After consideration by the Resolutions Committee, all ministers will receive these proposals in July. In 2021, we plan to consider the Judicial Procedure, which will be last remaining section of the Manual that needs to be updated.
