General Conference Report
We recently concluded our 75th Anniversary General Conference. Due to the pandemic, the entire conference, including services and seminars, was broadcast on Facebook, YouTube, and the UPCI website. Viewership numbers were strong, with a peak live audience of nearly 7,000 devices tuned to the broadcast and peak service unique viewers of over 114,000. This means that as of September 30, at least 114,000 people watched some portion of General Conference. In some cases a group of people watched on one device. Total views were at 650,000. Of course, many people watched multiple services. All seminars and services continue to be available for replay online.

There was a powerful anointing on each service. Global Missions raised $2.6 million in cash and pledges. From the cash offering, we are already able to send 15 missionary families back to their fields with completed budgets, which is a new record, and we expect to send more when pledges are paid.

Videos of the services and seminars can be viewed on YouTube, as well on Facebook. This includes the special 75th anniversary documentary that covers the history of the UPCI, a short overview of the UPCI and my Thursday evening message "But We See Jesus." As always, you also can purchase CDs and DVDs of the General Conference services at PentecostalPublishing.com.

In the elections, all incumbents were returned to office, except for two positions in Youth Ministry. Joshua Carson resigned as youth president to accept the pastorate of a church. Michael Thomas, the current youth director of promotions, was elected to fill the unexpired, one-year term. Justin Reinking, youth secretary, was not eligible for reelection due to age. Jeremy Stafford, the Florida District youth president, was elected as the new youth secretary. We thank Brother Carson and Brother Reinking for their years of service in Youth Ministries, and we welcome Brother Thomas and Brother Stafford to their new positions.

New members of the Executive Board are Wayne Huntley (Eastern Zone), Harold Churchill (Northeast), Jerron Carney (Southeast), and Terry Pugh (Southwest). New members of the Ministers Appeal Council are Tom Copple and Rodney Shaw.

By majorities of 87 to 93 percent, the General Conference adopted three resolutions presented from the Resolutions Committee. They are updates of the General Constitution and a new provision in the District Constitution for a presbyter at large, at the discretion of the district. The General Conference also endorsed three new associated organizations: North Texas Christian College (Dallas area), Life Springs Charitable Trust (a network of UPCI entrepreneurs), and Genesis Institute of Theology, Evangelism and Leadership (ministry training program in Edmonton, AB, Canada).

For UPCI ministers, the next issue of the Forward will contain a full report of elections, appointments, and resolutions.

Issues Concerning Religious Liberty

  • The freedom of churches and religious organizations with biblical views of sexuality to remain faithful to those views without suffering government punishment.
  • Whether federal, state, and local governments will coerce individuals, businesses, and religious organizations to embrace extreme gender ideology that erases the distinctions between men and women and harms multiple vulnerable populations, including women and children.

Questions for the Church

  • Why and how should Christians engage the culture for the sake of the church?
  • Does engaging the issues of the day politicize the Gospel?
  • Is engaging the moral issues of the day part of our mandate of evangelizing the world?
  • How can we continue to protect religious freedom and other fundamental rights?

Sincerely in Christ,
